Addiction is one of the hardest things to deal with. It tears you to pieces, you become desperate, you don't know what to say or do... and this is only for the people who are close to the afflicted party. For the person themselves, I have no idea how they deal with such insurmountable suffering. It's truly inconceivable.
This song deals with a few people in my life who had, and thankfully overcame, such an addiction. Of course, this is purely from my selfish perspective being around them, which is why I never loved this song. It was more therapy than anything but since the bad times have passed I figure putting it out with the Driftwood only makes sense.
lyrics
I heard that you were giving your heart away
I heard that you couldn't stand to see your day just slip away
I heard that you went on a trip today
I heard that you need to spend some time away and that's ok
You take it too far for your own good
And no one asks you why
I heard that you just sold your soul today for another shot
I heard that you had a bad trip today
I heard that you couldn't take it anymore your life was a bore
I heard that you just took it too far today
