How forward should we be to anyone? Is there really a time for tact to be thrown out the window? I think many of us can relate to wanting to just spew out everything that you don't like about someone or their actions. This song reflects that desire, with the cop-out of saying "have I gone too far?" as if that will make the original tirade alright!
In a grander sense this is about disappointment - wanting to lash out at someone to really make them realize how much they've let you, and everyone else around them, down. I think we must always walk the line between this reaction and using tactfulness to get your message across. The former might feel more cathartic in the moment but the latter might save the relationship.
lyrics
A will so weak that you can't fake it
A walk too far because you can't take it
A stress so large that you can't bare it
A conscience so faint that you lost it
Or have I gone too far?
A fear so large that I'm in over my head
A love so grand that I run myself dead
A heart so faint that it's nearly gone
A faith so strong that it's overrun
A life so balanced that it's falling
A character so appalling
Or have I gone too far?
A smile so smug that it's always in my head
An ego so large that it's weighing down
On the people you used to need
On the people you used to trust
On the people you used to love
