about

I came up with the main riff on the subway one day. Not sure how it popped in to my head, but that's the beauty of songwriting: good or bad, it seems to come from the ether. I liked the idea of bookending the song with a fanfare of guitars that not only changes key but also has a distinct dynamic shift from the first time you hear it. I think it works in this recording but perhaps the fanfare should actually be that - horns!

This one is about one of my big fears- not being able to be all things to all people. Sadly, it can be cyclical as the more you say "yes" to people, more often than not you'll start to fall short as you spread yourself thin. A hard lesson when you have to face someone and say "I've let you down again."

lyrics

I've hit on hard times
I couldn't clear my mind
Ruined by design
I just forgot my lines

And I'll bet you're waiting for the day
But I just can't bare to say that I've let you down again.

I couldn't face you the other day
I couldn't face you the other day
I couldn't bare to say, I wouldn't dare to say
That I let you down again
But there's so much I've gotta tell you

I'll bet you're waiting for the day
But I just can't bare to say that I've let you down again
