It's so easy to get swept up in nostalgia but, often, it hampers your ability to create a future that's just as memorable - and that leads to thinking that your present will never be as good as the past. So this was a song telling myself to enjoy the past... but not too much.
A lot of Radiohead in this one. I was trying to get a really clean blend of piano and guitar so that they almost melded into one another. I think it works. Perhaps a better vocal, a better drummer, and a bit of polish could have pushed this one over the finish line.
lyrics
Rewind, play that song again
It's not like we haven't heard it a thousand times before
Rewind, say that phrase again
It's not like I haven't heard it a thousand times or more
But I need to know you still care
And I need to know you're there
Rewind
Rewind but don't stay in the past
Reminisce but in your dreams do not bask
Those memories hide what you've come to know as pain
Rewind
