This is a fun one with a rollicking piano part that might have come up as part of the ill fated MANBEAR musical. After all, how could Saul ever end up with Raebnam? She's an advisor to the mayor?! It's uncooth, impossible even! It's short and to the point but very out of nowehere without the rest of the musical to give it some meaning.
The influence for this one is clearly McCartney's "You Gave Me The Answer" - supercharged, but clearly in the same vein. I've always had a soft spot for the music hall tradition, even though I don't think it seeps into my work too often. I think if this song was any longer it would be grating. Luckily it ends before you know it! ... can I sell myself or what? You be the judge!
lyrics
I come around and you're there
Some people say it's unfair
They say, "What does she see in you anyway?"
I want to stay at home but you say,
"What's that gonna do? Locking yourself away?"
I can't believe what they say to you and me
Yeah it's enough to break me down but I don't stay down
Because I love you and I think you feel the same
When I'm lost at sea you're right behind me
Some people say it's unfair
But that never gets them anywhere
When I say it's unfair you always tell me
That everything's ok, today was just one day
And that everything falls into place someday
I can't believe what they say to you and me
Yeah it's enough to break me down but I don't stay down
Because I love you and I think you feel the same
