Another song that I like but the execution of the recording just left it feeling a little flat. There's a few things about the recording that show my inexperience and maybe the best thing to do for this song is to re-record it all... but who wants to do that when there are new songs to work on?!
There is one happy accident that I DO like about the recording of this song. I was recording this in the livingroom of our apartment when my wife very gently opens the door to the balcony and it makes this wonderful squeak that you can here during the second "why don't you love me?" segment... it reminds me of a Paul McCartney song (Daytime Nighttime Suffering) where you can briefly hear the cry of his newborn son! I love stuff like that and if I were to ever re-record this I could never recreate it.
lyrics
Why don't you love me as I love you?
What do you have for me?
What are you carrying
In times of sickness of the body and the mind?
What are you holding for me
That leaves this beggar blind?
You never talk to me and I never try
Why don't you love me as I love you?
She's on the fall again
She's on the fall again
She just couldn't see her borders fall
Couldn't make any sense of it all
She's on the fall again
She's on the fall again
She just couldn't keep her faith in me
I tried so desperately
And if I saw her again I'd say
You left me you know I never left you
You told me where to go but I'll never say I told you so
She's on the fall again
This time she wants her end
She just couldn't let it go
She's better off on her own
She's on the fall again
But this time I'm not her friend
I hope that she will make it through
I'm always there for you
And if I saw her again I'd say
You left me you know I never left you
You told me where to go but I'll never say I told you so
