This one just seems a little too ordinary. I think there could be obvious fixes to make it more polished: the drums weren't recorded too well and the vocal, while not being too bad, could have been done a bit better.
A song about how bitterness needs to be actively fought before it infests your life. Easier said than done! Of course, it's easy to start to become comfortable with the attitude that comes with it. I seem to recall that this was for someone in particular but I can't quite remember who. As someone who doesn't always write from experience, it can be difficult to keep track what songs I wrote from a real life event and which are just fanciful forays into fiction.
lyrics
To change your mind, to relive that time
Is an easy way out but it's not you that I doubt
Joy surrounds you but to you it's a veil masking what you should feel
It's not hard to walk away, it just takes a few days
To gether the courage to stray, there's always another way
The longer you wait, the more you mistake chance for fate
The laughter it fades away
The longer you wait, the more you inflate that love or hate
It's not a permanent state
Why is it that you take it so hard? Just let down your guard
You love to be the one whose life gets turned around
You love to be the rag, the hand me down
I thought I could see you for a while
I thought I could see through to the smile
The longer you wait, the more you mistake chance for fate
The laughter it fades away
The longer you wait, the more you inflate that love or hate
It's not a permanent state
It's not a permanent state
