I remember recording this song on my Boss BR-600 - it was a really nice day and I was alone in my apartment just strumming an acoustic guitar and going through some of the drum tracks on the BR-600 - all of the sudden one just clicked and I recorded this song in about 40 minutes. Just like that.
One of the things I love about this song is the spontaneity that comes through - the acoustic guitar tracks are filled with artifacts from the apartment and me kind of humming along, the electric guitars are clearly single takes (there's some hilarious moments if you pay attention to them!) but it all adds up to a great quirky little tune.
lyrics
So my love you've finally done what they thought could never be done
You've broken up and now you say that you'll never find anyone
The word "love" is so easy to hate
The word "love" is so often linked with fate
But the word you need is not "make-believe"
You've gotta wait and see
Come on
The black from the space that left is slowly starting to dawn
The need for the word of words is coming on pretty strong
But will you find peace in a bottle of wheat?
Or will it just make you blind?
The word you need is not "make-believe"
You've gotta wait and see
Come on
So you see your time is out and your face begins to pale
The only way to rid yourself of pain is through the stench of stangant ale
But will you find peace in a bottle of wheat?
Or will it just make you blind?
The word you need is not "make-believe"
You've gotta wait and see
Come on
You're gone
