This one is all based around a bass riff that I had cooking for a while that leant itself perfectly to the Hofner bass that I had just gotten at the time. Thanks Macca.
A song about friends that have slipped away over time and the underlying desire that I have to never let it them go. This song had someone in particular in mind - but luckily this person is one of those wonderful exceptions where even years of not seeing each other we can still pick up where we left off. In this regard, I have been extremely fortunate that I have many friends that fall into this category.
Over the years I've thankfully come to accept that some things will slip away regardless of how I feel or the work that I put into it.
lyrics
We go back so far
It's hard to count the ways you used to love me
Now you've left to find a better life and that's alright
Why did we slip away?
Where do you slide these days?
We began to realize the way it had to be
Each of us was going down a path
And we were unable to disagree
Why do we go out of our way to say we don't care anymore?
How can I make it up to you?
When can we catch up?
I take you to an open field
And we see eye to eye on most things most of the time
It's true
