A rather psychedelic song about changing who you are to either sheild yourself from the ciriticism of others or to gain the acceptance of others.
It's a sarcastic look at the matter because in certain circles to be yourself is the last thing that you want. I've always found it fascinating to be in a situation where no one is truly acting as they normally would - did I really meet anyone here or did I just meet a bunch of projections? Or aer they one in the same? Oh boy... here we go.
lyrics
To take is to give when you're on the outs
And I know that you care
Even when you say you don't
I know that you do
And when the rain turns to words
I know that you'll say "We all do"
You say you don't want to
I say you should try to
Be someone other than yourself
For a day or two you can find it out inside you
To be someone else is to stay on top
It's the only way to keep those words from falling like rain
